The Steering Wheel Club, Mayfair

Just came across an article about The United Motor Sports Club used to be in Mayfair, and their unique collection of (now missing) memorabilia. Here is a snap of the Club Badges wall. Anything stand out?

 

To be fair, it looks like a BRM badge but is it?

 

I've got a square AA badge, but it wasn't me who nicked the collection - honest!

 

A tad of research shows Christine's sold some of them in 1998 and Bonhams sold some more this year in June.

This is a club members badge. Yes they do come up for sale once in a while, but the bulk of memorabilia which plastered the walls is 'missing' and has been since the early 80's when the club was closed.

 

Is that badge on the picture?

 

No, more to respond to Mr Clansman...These members badges do come up at auction from time to time, but I dont think anyone knows where the assembled automobilia collections which did line the walls actually went.

Just a couple of sites found with badges regarding SCM.
I'm still not convinced about the badge Fun circled. But I'm not too bothered one way or the other.

 

I rather like, “The sports car club” badge!
