I know what you mean. I have an MG ZR but won't go near an MGCC stand. However, if I take it to a Rover Sports Register event they make me feel very welcome, as do the members. As I often say to them in a light-hearted way, its really a Rover 25 Sports Edition but with a weird badge on the grille.
Actually I just realised that theBRM stand is next door to food court. What an excellent place to be!!! I think we have the best possible place, since everyone will pass by, and maybe take a look. Or am I mistaken?
Popped in to see you guys on sat after walk round the stalls and cars on display. Was good to meet a few of you in the flesh so to speak. And get advice on polishing products and sunroof assembly. Stand looked amazing. Good job guys
Beginning to the end, 2023 NEC restoration show What a top weekend big thanks to Pat and GT- for sorting out my break light looking forward for POL see you all then.
Well, all done, Saturday was manic at times and Friday reasonable, Sunday seemed not so busy!! I need to say a big thank you!!! @GT- @Antony Parsons @clansman and thank you to Mrs GT, Mrs Anthony Parson, Mrs Fun, @Roverlike (via phone) Jake, and Liam who all contributed to our stand!! this is a big commitment and it’s appreciated!! Also thank you to the Rover 200/400 club with whom we exchanged tools and banter all weekend!!
Thanks mate at the moment I have to be face down with a ten minute break every hour it's like looking through steamed up glass just hope it's worth it but had no option.
Ahhh, we may have spoken and not made the association with a forum name! Quite a few owners past and present came out of the woodwork this weekend!
As a quick summary, this is what was achieved on my own BRM this weekend, with a huge thanks to the whole team... Sunroof blind headlining replacement. Sunroof tilt and slide mechanism repair. Headlining fabric clean(er). Glove box refit. Steering column trim refit. Passenger tail light polish Sill extensions polish and test fit. Passenger door card removal and refit, with attempted clean. Basic external clean. Horn test! In addition, I believe @Antony Parsons had the following: Tailgate wiring loom electrical diagnosis, fully restoring; Rear wiper motor function, Third level brake lights. Diagnosis of rear wiper washer fault (not yet repaired). Full high level detailing. Horn test! I've probably missed a few items, but for only 3 active days, plus manning the stand, having appropriate lunch and coffee breaks, wandering the halls for parts and consumables, setting up and taking down... I feel that was quite a lot!! Also, a shout out to the Practical Classics team who were running the bodywork restoration demos, for providing the raw metal required to perform my sunroof repair. And again to @clansman for making that all happen! In terms of the headlining replacement and sunroof repair, on the way home it was noticeably quiter in terms of cabin noise and no rattles, despite the missing bump stops!
Thanks for keeping us up to date with everything, from start to finish. Looks like you more than entered into the true spirit of the Restoration Show by doing restoration work on site rather than it being just a display only stand. You've definitely done us proud and hopefully encouraged a few more people to join the world of green and orange and put effort into restoring their ow example.
this! ... We really need a new forum plugin that allows multi-emoji responses to posts instead of just the like option
....at least it keeps the cost down of running this site! Just saying....for those who haven't voluntarily contributed to the running costs.
that it doesn't exist! One day then... maybe. Let me know if I can ever help. It does remind me that I still own a vB5 license! (Which is obviously no good in this case).
