According to the pride of longbridge Facebook page as of 12 minutes ago,POL is cancelled. But obviously needs to be confirmed from someone in the know
I got this message from Gemma ,although she mistakenly calls it POL23 "Following a site visit today, the Park is water logged worse it has been for over 12 years Sadly POL 23 is cancelled. We have tried to source a space on the redevelopment sadly there is water there as well: POL team is sad for this to happen this year. The Parks also stated they had to cancel an event in Wugust of last year due to the weather. Please accept our apologies."
It was Gemma that posted on Facebook, so from the horses mouth so to speak. Really sad news but on the plus side I now have this weekend spare.
I was expecting this unfortunately, I haven't taxed 256 as of this year yet and was just going to tax it to come to this event. It's a shame they can't do it later in the year as April is always abit iffy with the weather.
I am hoping they will need to do it later in the year if this happens year after year. When I was there in 2018 event was also canceled.
Seen this on 200&400 forum: For the Rover120/ MG 100 team "Following the unfortunate cancellation of Pride of Longbridge 2024, we are pleased to announce The Rover 120 & MG 100 Partnership have secured a venue for Saturday 13th April to Extend their all model, anniversary celebration, Longships and Octagons into a Weekend Event. Further details will be announced shortly."
It's about a hour from Birmingham, but incase anyone is interested! I also believe it's a £10 to get in!
What a year to remember that was! But it's good reminder that there is always the transport museum again... Clipboards at the ready, peeps! A lot can happen in 10 days of weather though, it must be REALLY waterlogged to cancel it with such notice.
I'm pretty sure that lots of outdoor sports people will testify how wet the ground is under foot! It may be OK in some areas but completely boggy in other places. I can understand them being cautious under the circumstances. Better safe than idiots ripping up the place and losing it altogether.
