    Do janspeed build to order or would these be stock items, if stock then inform them that the BRM's are dropping like flies so best to sell mega cheap than have them on the shelves for eternity haha

    The JS sports cat only fits the JS manifold but cat back should be interchangeable. ZR160 system all fits EXCEPT backbox, you need to order the R200 item or it'll stick out of bumper.

    Manifold is much better than the standard item in terms of flow, design, etc. Not perfect but probably the best available 'off the shelf'.

    Does come at a price though :(

    I could do with a Cat back system right now and was planning on looking spring/summer.... Full system would be perfect though :(

    Mine will have a JS centre pipe and recently acquired JS backbox. I believe they are made to order.

    As good as the JS items are, for 700 notes though I'd want stainless steel flanges on the pipework which my centre pipe and backbox certainly don't have.

    I guess they charge a high price because they put a lot of development work into the exhaust systems, but also because as far as I'm aware they have a monopoly on aftermarket manifolds for the ZR/25/200. I can't think of any other large volume manufacturers making anything?

    Bit of history of those who don't know. Janspeed's involvement in the R3 200 dates back to the period when Tony Pond along with Wynne Mitchell were actively developing the R3 200 Cup car that was slated to race the R8 220 Coupe 'Tomcats'.

    The target K-series power output for this 'race' 200 was 197bhp, which coincidentally (or maybe not) is the standard output for the T-series turbo. It was Wynne that told us of Janspeeds involvement, although no specifics.

    Obviously the work done by Tony and Wynne ultimately morphed into the MG ZR 190 Trophy Race Cars. Although by this point it has been taken in-house by MG-Rover.
    The JS manifold is standard fitment on the ZR 190s.

    Anyway my point was, the JS manifold is a good bit of kit if you've got the cash.

    Back on topic..

    That's from a works S1600 rally car. It doesn't look like the item you can buy from JS for the ZR though?

    I was incorrect about the exhaust manifold though. I seemed to recall when reading the Dreadnought MG ZR 190 build thread that Janspeed was mentioned. What was is actually mentioned is the down pipe. I've also double checked the 2014 regulations for the MG Trophy championship. The following is stated;

    TR 6.7.6 Exhaust Systems The OEM ZR160 Exhaust Manifold and Janspeed Down Pipe are mandatory and must not be modified or reworked. The use of exhaust tape/heat cloth or specific exhaust coatings may be used. A Catalyst of 100 cell minimum is mandatory on all cars and must be fitted with an accessible inspection plug. The catalyst must be fitted in the exhaust centre section. A Janspeed Centre section and Silencer section is mandatory, a short flexible section may be added at the Downpipe/Centre section joint. No other modifications are permitted

    So it would appear the Janspeed exhaust manifold you can buy off the shelf isn't used on the Trophy cars. Perhaps it was developed for the 200 Cup cars and shelved. That's just speculation though, I guess we'd have to ask Wynne about Janspeed's precise involvement.

    Here's a few pictures of the exhaust used on Dreadnoughts 190 car. It's nice to know the power can be obtained using the standard 160 manifold, for me it certainly rules out bothering with the JS item.

    Custom down pipe made to JS spec (not made buy JS in this instance). Dreadnought later had to replace this system after competitors complained it breached the rules.
